Sheep gives birth to a Dog?

A quite bizarre story out of China this week - A Chinese farmer claims that one of his sheep has given birth to a Dog! We here at Flipside have heard of 'Sheepdogs' but this is extraordinarily bizarre. Sheep and Dogs are two differing species and one expects that never the twain should meet - but if the photograph below is anything to go by - they have! To all intents and purposes the image below does appear to show a puppy - but Yue Guozhang, a researcher at Xi'an City Animal Husbandry Technology Centre, said;-
‘It's not possible that a sheep could become pregnant with a puppy,’ he said. ‘It's likely that this is just an abnormal lamb.’ - Judge for yourself!

Farmer Liu told how he found the unusual baby animal shortly after it was born in one of his fields.
‘I was herding the sheep, and saw a sheep licking her newborn lamb on the grassland. The lamb was still wet,’ he said.
‘When I went up close to check on the lamb I was shocked because it looked so weird, like a cross between a sheep and a dog.

‘I was a bit frightened, as I've been raising sheep for 20 years and had never seen such a creature.’

Thousands have been flocking to see it at the farm in Shaanxi Province. The Farmer even claims it plays around like a Dog.

The incredible...Sheepdog?

It's not the first time that strange 'sheep' births have made national headlines - Last year in Turkey a Sheep gave birth to what the Vet who did the cesarian called a 'human' - (See below)

Erhan Elibol, a vet, performed  a caesarean on the animal to take the lamb out, but was horrified to see that the features of the lamb's snout bore a striking resemblance to a human face.

“I’ve seen mutations with cows and sheep before. I’ve seen a one-eyed calf, a two-headed calf, a five-legged calf. But when I saw this youngster I could not believe my eyes. His mother could not deliver him so I had to help the animal,” the 29-year-old veterinary said.

The lamb’s head had human features on – the eyes, the nose and the mouth – only the ears were those of a sheep.

Ewe gotta be kidding me!?
