Planet In Crisis! What on Earth Do We Do Now?

JapanJapan

Unless science joins the dots, few of us get to see the big picture. Our dependency on scientific information and understanding in the modern world is all encompassing.  Sure, you could argue that this is the way it has always been - ever since an apple set its sights on Sir Isaac Newton; and mostly you'd be right. A difference existed then however, a difference which lasted for centuries only to be completely overturned and subverted in the last few decades. Scientists were engaged in science for science's sake. Today it is one more piece of kit in the toolbox of corporatism and sadly, it's the most influential one.

Governments the world over rely on Science to inform policy and nowhere is this more evident than in the western world. But just how good is the science which is presented to them? Just like the catclysmic earthquakes which unleashed a torrent of horrors upon an unsuspecting New Zealand and Japan, pressure has been building in societies across the globe as people sense all is not well with the times in which we live, and more importanly - that all is not well with the scientific view of the world.

Governments will tell you they respond to 'best scientific advice' and that scientific findings are peer reviewed and then scrutinised by the Government's own independent scientific advisors. Independent advisors however can only base their judgements on the science 'as presented' - implicit in their analysis is the view that if a research paper and findings has been peer reviewed, has made it to a prestigious journal, then it is essentially 'sound', it is a view which must be challenged! Most scientists are in the pay of Corporate entities - they no longer conduct research for the sake of conducting research. Careers and mortgages are dependent on their findings - and they work for Corporate entities so huge their deep pockets could ensure findings which will ultimately please shareholders by way of enhanced products.

The Pandemic That Never WasThe Pandemic That Never Was

Take for example the pandemic which never was in 2010. Swine Flu was an alarm raised by scientific health professionals, agreed to by the supposedly independent Committee of scientists at the World Health Organisation - and it was no more than a scare created by money hungry pharmucetical companies. Only after Govts had spent billions on vaccinations did it become clear that those Independent 'Scientists' at the World Health Organisation had strong ties to the Pharmucetical companies producing the vaccines. It was even suggested that a Secret Committee within the Committee issued a 'Start By' date for the Pandemic - this was brought to light by none other than the British Medical Journal which at the very least shows there are still a handful of scientists who have the moral integrity to stand up and be counted when the data doesn't add up. Here in Australia tens of thousands were expected to die from the killer illness - 10,000 in New South Wales alone - in the end 191 people across the entire nation succumbed, less than perishes annually from 'Common Flu'.

Arguably however, the biggest potential pool of 'corrupt science' lies in the energy industry. In an oil obsessed world the potential for corrupt science and politicians is self evident - the public perception that 'Big Oil' pulls the strings of Western Political power is only enhanced by our knowledge that most middle eastern leaders are corrupt and lining their own pockets at the expense of the people they purportedly represent. Corruption and bribery appear to be the only means of doing business in the Middle East and implicit in this is that the West has to play that game to satisfy our insatiable demand for oil. Alternative energy sources exist, Solar, Water and Wind power have proven their effectiveness in producing energy - but engines they fuel will never reach a mass production stage - Why? Because energy 'source' doesn't necessarily equate with power. If a water powered vehicle was mass produced now (putting aside arguments about the lack of water currently in the world) and became the vehicle of choice, although it may last as long as a petrol driven vehicle on the road it wouldn't have the 'power' - that same explosive combustibility that oil provides simply isn't there with water powered vehicles - but so what I hear you say? We would at least be helping in a huge way to clean up the atmosphere and stop damaging the potential for the survival of our children and other life on the planet in the future - what does it matter if we can only do 50kmph instead of 100kmph? Well it matters to what's probably the most influential arm of Nation States in the modern world - The Military. The Military relies on 'power' - it relies on being able to respond quickly and effectively in the most powerful vehicles available (Planes, Tanks, Ships), the majority of which are powered by oil. They need to be able to deploy men and machinery rapidly - and oil fuelled vehicles still represent the best means of doing so. Now I hear you ask well why can't they just run oil fuelled vehicles while the civilian population drive around in water powered cars? One word - Cost!

There are massive savings to be made on oil purchases because of the scale of the market - destroy that market and the price of oil becomes astronomic  - waging war will become prohibitively expensive. The cost of war could rise at least ten fold, maybe even significantly more. It is why mass produced alternate energy driven vehicles will never reach mass production for now - it undermines the Politician's ability to wage war economically. It is commendable, in my opinion, that those who push for a greener fuel solution are almost as a by product of their concern for the environment - also hastening peace. It is a terrible indictment of those who lead us currently however, that Militarism is the supported option even though all the signs are that our way of life is destroying the planet. And it's not just oil, it's nuclear power, it's electrogmagnetic interference, it's the all pervading carcinogenic PCB's, it's the destruction of the land with chemicals which wipe out wildlife, the removal of rainforests, and the distressingly tragic list goes on and on.

There are many who believe the current run of exceptional earthquakes and weather based disasters are man made - it would come as no surprise if this were so. The terrible potential power of HAARP, which makes Nuclear Weapons seem tame by comparison has already been used - where, when and why remain closely guarded secrets but so many scientists of integrity have warned of its dangers, that we'd be fools to  a) ignore them and b) not demand an end to this most destructive of weapons.

The Planet is in Crisis - although historic periods of distress can be pointed to as examples of us having gone through it all before and that it's 'natural' can be found, we at Planet Flipside contend that this is the beginning of the greatest period of distress ever for humankind. Already we are feeling the distress as individuals and sadly, many of us are somewhat bewildered.  It can all be turned around - but it requires action, it requires you to stop being distracted from what's important in life,  to think through events being played out before your eyes, to stop believing the 'all's well' messages our mainstream media presents daily. No one here at Flipside is suggesting you follow this 'political path' or that one - what we are suggesting is that you can't continue to walk the one you're on - it's leading us all to destruction.
