The Past Lives of Psychic Children

What can we learn from Psychic Children? What can we learn from Psychic Children?  There are lots of things we look for, and encourage to develop when raising our children. Psychic ability however, rarely gets a second thought. Yet, increasingly it seems, our kids are more in tune, more in touch with,  a more developed sense which appears beyond our perception. Some parents claim their kids have conversations with 'dead people', others that their children perceive figures, movement, that they themselves cannot discern.  Some children can recall past lives in very precise detail. Laying aside just how many senses we do in fact have (scientists and philosophers are still debating that one - Google 'Kinesthesia') - the argument that kids have an extra sense which we adults have either failed to develop or lost, is a strong one.

Kids have a way of elevating our sense of joy with some of the remarkably funny things they say - but equally, they can leave us terror stricken, particularly when claiming to speak to someone, who quite clearly to us adults, just isn't there.

'Imaginary friends' are well known to most parents. Kids can spend hours locked in a world of their own playing with them. But just how imaginary are they? We write it off as normal behaviour when they are playing happily with an imaginary friend who is clearly a buddy - but take this snippet of conversation from a three year old as she lay in bed with her Mom.  Mom was tired and drifting off to sleep, but the child was still wide awake and chirping to herself. The mother was startled to full consciousness when her daughter said 'Mom, I don't like that man.'

'What man?'

'That man there.'  The girl pointed to an empty spot beside the bed.

The mother immediately switched the bedside lamp on, fearing an intruder had broken into the house. The room was empty. The hairs were standing up at the back of her neck, but there wasn't really anything she could do.  Switching off the lamp, she tried to go back to sleep, her daughter's soft murmurings in the background.

About five minutes later, the girl suddenly said 'Man's gone now.'

Not unsurprisingly it sent shivers down the spine of the Mom - but more unsettling words and behaviour followed.

One day, not long after the bedtime incident, the child pointed to an empty sofa and asked her sister 'who's that?'  Her sister, confused, asked 'who's what?'  The girl pointed again at the empty sofa and answered 'that man there.' There was no one there, but once again, the child had seen something no one else could.

This particular child was able to recollect a past life and to do so in a vivid and highly descriptive manner - even to the point of telling her Mom what her name was, and the circumstances leading to her untimely death. Now at ten years old she barely recollects those moments, it's as if that part of her life has gone completely. Now this Mom could have written it all off as some invention of the child for whatever reason or purpose (though it would be unlikely in one so young to recount things with such detail and coherence) - It's a story the Mom never let out into the public domain. One evening while video conferencing via computer with two other people in differing parts of the world one asked 'Who's that standing behind you?' at the same moment the other party to the conference asked the very same question though neither could see the others words. Of course, there was no one there as she was alone in the house at the time. But the description of the 'man' who was supposed to be there was eerily akin to the figure who had been seen by her daughter some years earlier.

It's a fascinating phenomena and many of us here at High strangeness and our sister publication Planet Flipside are of the opinion that there is something 'paranormal', supernatural about it all. If you're reading this as a parent of a younger child it may pay to take a closer interest to some of the presumed throwaway remarks they make, to explore their imaginary friends more or not dismiss what might appear absurd.  There may well be, much to be learned. We'll leave you with the first of a five part documentary detailing the vivid recall a Scottish child has of a past life.

If you have had experiences with your own children - or during your own childhood, which you feel were paranormal or supernatural - we'd like to hear from you.
