Sheela Na Gigs - Remnants of an Alien Past?

Sheela Na GigSheela Na Gig
Sheela Na Gigs can be found liberally scattered throughout Europe on Churches, Walls, Monasteries and other historical buildings. Their density in Ireland and Scotland tends to suggest they are of Celtic origin but they can be found anywhere in Europe. Controversy surrounds their origins and precisely what they depict - but common to most of them is the alien like features of the head and the gaping vagina. What do they represent? Some academics think they symbolise the dangers of lust, others believe they depict the 'Old Hag' or possibly even a Succubus. Currently at Planet Flipside our researchers are looking at them in a different light. What if they symbolise aliens or alien intent? The almost Universal alien like features of Sheela Na Gigs could open the door to new ways of percieving them. And even if they symbolise the 'Old Hag' who visits during 'Night Tremors' or Hypnogogia - could there yet be an alien connection?  The idea that aliens abduct us and mess around with our genitalia is hardly new - but many theorists posit that 'screen' memories are then implanted when this happens - memories which draw you away from the belief that it was an alien abduction and more an 'Old Hag' experience. Could our ancestors have been aware of this and created these images to warn people?

If they were depictions of the 'Old Hag' then why is the face so alien like? There's nothing 'old' looking about the faces and we were most certainly competent enough in sculpting at the time these appear to have first emerged, to have depicted age in stone. Why are the features so smooth? So bug eyed? So bereft of what could be called a nose? These things are classic descriptions of alien features. It has to be admitted that rarely in modern times has the 'visiting' alien been described as female although it has happened and in some pretty well documented cases. One case in particular has yielded DNA evidence that suggests something 'very odd' seduced an Australian man and his only explanation was that it was a female alien. Could this be something that our ancestors were aware of and symbolised in stone?  The fact that Sheela Na Gigs are most common over doorways and windows suggests that they were used as a means of warning something trying to 'get in' and not just a general warning. But were they warning and if so - who were they warning? The People? Then why are they over windows which were rarely accessed or even seen by the general population? Why are some of the earliest depicted on stones in the middle of fields? Were we saying 'We know what you are doing!' to alien visitors, and hoping that the potency of our symbology would somehow stop them? The splayed Vagina which appears on them lacks detail, there's no defined labia or clitoris so could it be that it represents a 'passage', a tunnel, a gateway to another dimension by uniting the DNA of Humans with the DNA of aliens? These are early thoughts we're having here at Planet Flipside and as ever we're discussing them - the discussion can be found here by clicking on this link .
