The Norwegian Spiral  The 'Norwegian Spiral' first brought the phenomena of airborne spirals to the attention of those who investigate UFOs - there was an earlier one, though less dramatic and dynamic in China in late 2009. Both were written off by official sources as 'out of control rockets' - but were they? Now, spiral number three appears yesterday over Australia and is again written off as something untoward happening to a rocket (this time Falcon 9 launched from Florida). Again the questions have to be asked 'Is officialdom correct? Are they telling the truth?' 

We at Planet Flipside have very good reason to believe they are not (at least not in all cases). More than this, thanks to the sharp eyed nature of one of our readers, something was brought to our atttention which may genuinely represent the first real breakthrough in ufology for decades. But first we need to dip into the past, thousands of years past to be precise.

Spirals are probably the most common symbol found on the cave and rock art of early civilisations. They are not unique to a local area and can be found, quite literally, in the early art work of almost all civilisations. Native American beliefs were such that they believed spirals represented the means of travelling from this world to the spirit world. That's something to bear in mind for what is posited later in this article.

Why would people of differing beliefs, differing races, differing cultures and spread throughout a world where knowledge of one another is said to have been unknown - all dabble in doodling the same image upon rock? Who was it meant for? What was it supposed to represent? Theories abound but no one, as far as I can see, addresses the central issue of the universality of its prevalence. Ideas are ascribed to each race, each religion, each culture, each nation without an explanation for why the spiral itself was so prominent - why not squares? Why not stars? Why not trees?

When we explore the spiral and most pertinently, when we explore the spiral in relation to 'heavenly' activity, it is as prominent in that type of art as it is in any other - The Nazca lines of course have been held by many to not only have been created using imagery from the air, at a time when flight was unknown - but also as a means of communicating with extra terrestrials - it should come as no surprise therefore that Nazca has its very own spiral...

Here in Australia where I sit typing this article, a very ancient set of spirals which would make little sense to anyone on the ground viewing them, can be found at Pine Gap where ancient Aboroginals created them (curiosly Pine Gap is home to a variety of Defence facilities and the only area in Australia where a positive and continuous 'no fly zone' exists).

Since rockets became a viable piece of technology in the mid 1940's we have had countless thousands of launchings of all types and sizes. Rarely (if ever) have any left such marked spiral trails or presented such spiral features. It has really only been observed since last year - the conclusion to be drawn from that (if it is indeed rockets) is that something universal to the rocket's manufacture (a processor or software system?) is malfunctioning and causing them to slip out of control. Given that China, the USA and the Russians have all been pointed to as the source of the malfunctioning rockets it is highly unlikely that they would be sourcing the same parts from the same supplier. It is posited here that the spirals witnessed all over the world are truly something we are not in possession of the truth about. They could be extraterrestrial craft using worm holes to travel from one place and time to another - they could be us humans using advanced technology to try and achieve the same goal. Whatever they are - Could it be that our earliest ancestors had already witnessed the phenomena and realised that to break free from this existence into another or to break into this one, the spiral was necessary? Could they have been trying to tell us for an almighty long time - It's just that no one was listening - or in this instance, looking?
